Description
Serious support for real adventures.
Ready for an overnight or serious dayhike with your little one? The Sherpani Rumba is the pack we recommend. It has a weight capacity of 70 lbs (gear and child combined) with substantial storage capacity. It features a true expedition backbacking suspension system complete with load lifters, aluminum stays and a wishbone Alpine waist belt for unmatched comfort and control.
The Rumba is the only child Carrier that can be adjusted while it's still on your back; the "Backtrack OTF" suspension system fits any size torso, and micro-adjusts while you're wearing it, making it much easier to trade the carrier between partners. There is no need to disturb your child by having to set the pack down in order to readjust the harness.
The Rumba also features an exclusive five point chest plate that prevents slouching and holds your child upright comfortably and securely with padded foam and five security straps. This baby carrier includes a sunshade, pop-off day pack which doubles as a diaper bag or a toddler school pack, and foot stirrups to increase your child's circulation and comfort. Also, its kickstand is designed to stay open as long as your child is in the pack.
Sherpani, a division of Madden Mountaineering, has been on the backpack scene for 24 years. It is the #1 supplier of packs to the Outward Bound program. It is the only backpack line that is designed with a woman's torso in mind so that both Mom and Dad are comfortable carrying it.
These packs offer specially contoured backs and harnesses; smaller, narrower bodies and softer fabrics on shoulder straps and waist belts.
Comes with a lifetime warranty on the pack!

How to measure your torso length
Everyone's torso is different, and it doesn't always depend on height. Just because you are a tall woman, it doesn’t necessarily mean you will have a long torso (maybe you have long legs instead).
To determine your torso length, you’ll need to enlist the help of a friend and a soft measuring tape.
1. Stand straight with your legs shoulder length apart.
2. Locate the 7th vertebra at the base of your neck. Not an anatomy expert? The C7 vertebra is the prominent bone that sticks out the most on your neck- you may want to tilt your head forward to locate it more easily. This will be the starting point for your measurement.
3. Place your hands on the top of your hips so you can feel the pointy protrusions on the front of your hips (also known as the Iliac Crest). Draw an imaginary “latitude line” between these two points across your back. This will be the stopping point for your measurement.
4. Run the tape measure from the C7 vertebra on your neck down your spine, following the curve of your back. Finish the measurement at the point where the tape crosses the imaginary “latitude line” on your back.
Voila! Now you know your torso length!

Product Reviews
"This pack is awesome !! I'm 6'3" and it's comfortable to carry our 2 year old around for hours. It fits my torso and does a great job of distributing the weight to the base of my spine. I've used it to carry our son while mowing the lawn, while on vacation and while hiking. I love it and he has an absolute blast in it !!! You won't regret buying it."

"This back pack is so comfortable and easy to adjust to any body type. I love the fact that you can open and close the ajustable straps with ease while the pack is on your back. It's light weight with loads of storage space. I have used it hiking and around the house, it's very versatile and I recommend it to everyone."

"This pack rocks. It's comfy and adjustable, so it fits both me and my husband. There's a full foot difference in height between us so that is a big plus. My son loves it and sits comfortable on my back as I prep dinner, go for short shopping trips or longer hikes. The only problem is that he cannot sleep in it very well, but that no big deal. The only negative thing I can speak to is that the instructions are not as clear as they could be. They require a mom to sit and read... something a new mom has very little time to do. "
