The Bundleme cuts out the whole hassle of having to layer your child with blankets that fall off, or too many pieces of clothing that overheat them when inside. The Bundleme adds a significant layer of cozy warmth, and blocks brisk winds. The top piece can be easily and quickly removed if there’s a change in the weather, or you’re taking you stroller inside, so your little one doesn’t get too hot.
The Bundleme can be used in a carseat, providing a cushy layer to sit on, and allows the carseat's safety straps to rest directly on your child. It has been crash tested (FMVSS213) (in the US) for safety. However, there is some controversy around the use of car seat inserts, snowsuits, bunting bags etc. when transporting a baby in a car seat. Many carseat safety experts state that no "aftermarket" items should ever be used in a car seat and that they present a safety hazard. Here are my thoughts on the issue:
Parents are always wrestling with choices about what is best for their babies. Our winters are harsh and parents want to keep their babies warm enough and they want to be outdoors with their babies as well. They have to decide if they should put their baby in a snowsuit in the car seat (one of the reasons we sell very high quality, "technical" snowsuits is that they have very little bulk), or just cover them with blankets, and then stand in the freezing cold outside the car with the door open and the cold air and snow blowing, trying to put the baby into a snowsuit so they can go into the baby carrier or stroller and be sufficiently protected from the cold. A difficult choice. One solution is to alter the Bundle Me to make it totally car seat friendly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MrwoFJc1qs
Here is what another Canadian retailer says about the Bundleme :
In line with JJ Cole's commitment to child safety, the Bundle Me has been tested to FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard) 213 requirements. All tests passed on the child restraint system, indicating that the Bundle Me product appeared to have little to no effect on the performance of the child restraint system.
Use your judgement and do what feels comfortable and right for you and your family. Judy
