Hiking poles can be an important part of ensuring your kids are hiking safely. They absorb shock and help prevent knee injuries when crossing uneven, rugged terrain. These two-piece poles from Chinook shrink down to a nice 26 inch length, a tiny bit long for a 5 year old, but just right for everyone older (right up to the teens).
The shaped handle works fine for small hands, and includes a strap so the pole can’t be dropped too far. The poles have a faceted spiked tip (not too sharp) with a rubber cover, and come with a smaller summer basket (for hiking on dirt and sand) and a big powder basket for winter snowshoeing and skiing.
Chinook Hiking Poles are made from strong, lightweight aluminum. The two section construction allows maximum adjustability. The handle is shaped and has a wrist strap to help your child hold onto the poles. The carbide tip is especially useful for rocky or icy surfaces. Included with the poles are a rubber tip, hiking basket and snow basket.
